2024 Terms and Conditions


James Family Tax is committed to providing you with an exceptional tax experience. We care about your taxes and value the opportunity to serve. This document outlines some of our general terms and conditions as we work with you this season.

Scope of Services:

James Family Tax provides a variety of services to include the filing of federal and applicable state income tax returns. Services at James Family Tax are completed based on the information provided by you as our client. The scope of the specific services rendered will be outlined in advance and unless otherwise stated may be limited to the preparation of tax returns and does not include any audit or representation services. Additional services required beyond the scope of tax preparation are available but will be subject to a separate agreement.


We work to complete your return in a timely manner. The ability to complete your return will depend on you as the client providing all documentation in a concise manner. For example, uploading all relevant documents at one time or bringing all relevant documents to your in office appointment.

For virtual and in-office appointments if documents are unavailable or incomplete, we may be required to reschedule your appointment subject to our calendar availability.

Responsibilities of the Client:

As the client, you agree to provide us with accurate and complete information necessary for the preparation of your tax returns. This includes all supporting documentation, such as W-2 forms, 1099 forms, receipts, and other relevant financial records. It is your responsibility to maintain adequate records and retain copies of all supporting documents for at least seven years.

We also require that you complete our client organizer to ensure we have up to date information on file in returning years.

You are responsible for reviewing the final tax returns for accuracy and completeness before they are filed. Once you have approved the returns, we will proceed with filing them on your behalf.

If there is later determined to be an omission of information by you as our client (intentional or unintentional) that is identified by the IRS or other authority, work by James Family Tax to amend or correct will be identified in a separate agreement.


We understand the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of your personal and financial information. We will not disclose any information provided by you to any third parties without your explicit consent unless required by law.

Use of our Client Portal:

James Family Tax leverages a secure client portal in accordance with our internal security plan and compliance with IRS security guidelines. This client portal also provides a central location for document exchange. We cannot accept sensitive tax information through any other virtual channel outside of this portal. This includes e-mail, text, or any other digital channel.

It is the clients responsibility to download and retain copies of information uploaded to this portal.

Fees and Payment:

Our fees for tax preparation services will be based on the forms being filed, the complexity of your tax situation, and the time involved in completing the returns. We will provide you with an estimate of our fees upon review of your specific circumstances.

Payment for our services for the current tax year, 2023, is due upon completion. Prior year returns will require payment in advance.


Either party may terminate services with James Family Tax at any time. In the event of termination, you agree to pay for all services rendered up to the termination date.

Limitation of Liability:

While we will exercise due care and diligence in the preparation of your tax returns, it is important to note that tax laws are complex and subject to interpretation. Therefore, our liability is limited to the amount of fees paid for our services and does not extend to any penalties, fines, or other costs incurred as a result of actions taken or decisions made by tax authorities. If it is determined that we made an error on your return, we will work with you to resolve the error and amend the return as necessary.
